Tonight PRA welcomed it's rising 9th graders and students new to PRA's high school in all grades for the 2024-2025 school year during High School Transition Night. This special event helps new high schools learn more about what to expect in the fall and allows them to talk with students about clubs, activities, and sports. Congratulations to the 17 PRA sophomores who competed at the National History Day regional competition in late February. All 17 placed in the top three in their categories and will now move on to compete in the State competition on the campus of the University of Colorado Denver on April 27. Yesterday, PRA student council members from all levels delivered to The Children's Hospital the comfort bags and blankets that students assembled during Miner Mania last month. During this annual all-school service event, students tied 42 blankets, created 600 cards, and put together 720 comfort bags.
Thanks to all who helped make this service event possible, and to The Children's Hospital for allowing us to partner with them this year!

PRA elementary school celebrated Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1, by dressing as a character from their book. Both students and teachers joined in the fun, and a few high school students took part by reading to elementary classes.

MS A Team will take on Jefferson Academy at 4 p.m. The winner of this game will play the winner of the Peak to Peak vs. Flatirons Academy contents in the championship game at 6 p.m.
MS B Team will play at 5 p.m. against the FCA Eagles with the championship game following at 6 p.m.

Yesterday during Miner Mania, our annual all-school service event, PRA students lived out our mission to "utilize character education and service learning programs that encourage community partnerships." This year PRA supported The Children's Hospital by providing items to help children who are required to stay overnight or face long-term hospital stays. They also made cards to be distributed to the hospital's patients.

Congratulations to 8th grader Sarah Jensen, who performed with the Colorado Middle School All State Choir last weekend joining students from across Colorado for the two-day festival. Sarah auditioned for the choir in October and placed as one of the top performers in her vocal part. She began working with Mrs. Hwang to prepare for the performance in December,

Congratulations to the PRA Mock Trial Team Two for becoming the 2024 Mock Trial regional champions! They will compete in the state competition on March 8-9 at the Jefferson County Courthouse! A huge shoutout to Amelie Chambers and Korinna Castelano for being individually with the Best Attorney Awards and Alex Choi for earning the Best Witness Award. Congratulations go out to PRA's Mock Trial teams, who competed in the Adams County/Broomfield County tournament over the weekend. Team Two came away with the title of regional champion and the winner of the Best Professionalism Award, and will now compete at the state competition at the Jefferson County Courthouse on March 8-9.
The case argued during the tournament involved a plaintiff who contracted COVID at a party hosted by the defendant, who was allegedly negligent in enforcing the restrictions and keeping his guests safe. Teams had to be able to argue both sides, plaintiff and defendant, during any round—and they don't know which side until 10-15 minutes before the round begins. Teams are scored by local attorneys and judges from around the state who volunteer their time.
Team Two members are: Matthew Castenada, Devon Williams, Korinna Castelano, Leeza Vallena, Sidney Palmer, Hadley Peech, Alex Choi, and Addison Patrick-Elster.
Castelano won the Best Attorney Award; Choi received the Best Witness Award.
Team One members are: Samantha Kowitt, Madilyn Duran, Amelie Chambers, Arden Boulware, Jada Friedman, and Zoe Duran.
Chambers won the Best Attorney Award.
