HS Robotics

Is your high school child interested in joining the PRA High School FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team? If so, please join us at our first meeting tomorrow, Thursday, August 20 after school from 3:15-4:00 in Room 2225 (right next to the high school library).

On this day we will be doing some get to know you and team building activities where we will be looking for effective/positive communication, collaboration, task commitment, ingenuity as well as building and programming skills (not required).

The High School FIRST Tech Challenge Team meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school (3:15-5:00 p.m.) in the High School Computer Science/Engineering classroom (Room 2225-next to HS library). These meetings will happen very week, except official days off-like Labor day, through mid-February or later depending on how the season goes.

Teams will be participating in at least two competitions throughout the year. In addition, Prospect Ridge Academy will be hosting an FTC Qualifier in January. Students will be expected to either help or compete at this event (except for extenuating circumstances like illness or prior plans already scheduled). Parents are highly encouraged to volunteer, as well.

There is a Kickoff event for the FTC season on Saturday, September 12 in Littleton, CO. This event involves the reveal of the season’s game, informational workshops for different aspects of FTC, and opportunities for networking with other teams. More regarding the Kickoff event will be discussed at the info meeting

Parents, if you are interested in helping with the HS FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics team this year, please email Ms. Gregory. Engineers and/or programmers preferred, but not required. Or if you are interested in volunteering with FIRST, for our qualifier or other events, please let Ms. Gregory know and she can walk you through the process.

If you have any questions, please email the HS FIRST Tech Challenge Coach, Jessica Gregory.
