Yes on 5B

Prospect Ridge Academy is joining the rest of the Adams 12 Five Star School District community in celebrating the passage of Ballot Issue 5B last week; a mill levy override (MLO) that will generate over $39 million annually for Adams 12 Five Star Schools in support of student success.

Prior to the passage of 5B, Adams 12 ranked 14th out of 15 metro districts in override funding per student. The bulk of funding generated through 5B will go toward remaining competitive in recruiting and retaining world-class staff. The district will also use MLO funds to bolster school safety and security, while also expanding career and technical education programs for students at the high school, middle school and elementary levels.

“The passage of 5B is not only a huge win for our students, it’s a win for our community,” said Adams 12 Five Star District Superintendent, Chris Gdowski. “Thank you, voters! Your support of education is an investment in our community, opening new doors for our students and strengthening our future workforce.”

Supporting the Whole Student at PRA

·      Teachers and Staff: Help close the compensation gap so students learn from the excellent educators they know and trust.

·      Student Supports: Sustain PRA’s whole-student experience, including rigorous academics (Math, Science, AP, honors), athletics, arts, enrichment, service, and leadership opportunities.

·      Special Populations: Maintain support staff and programming that serve all learners, ensuring every student has the resources to thrive.

·      Safe and Supportive Schools: Keep safety top of mind with resources to adapt as needs arise, staff new spaces as bond projects finish, and maintain secure, welcoming environments.

FAQs Families May Ask

Will this build new schools? No. That is the bond. 5B funds teachers, programs, and student supports.

Why can’t the state just provide more?  The state sets a formula. Anything beyond it requires a local override.

Does this include PRA?  Yes. By law, 5B funds are shared with all district-authorized charters per student.
