Prospect Ridge Academy High School received some exciting news this week when it was announced PRA has achieved “Diamond School” recognition through the 5-Star Students application.
Over 1,000 schools across the country use the 5-Star Students application to track student participation, use a point system for student incentives and reward student behavior. Achieving the “Diamond School” status puts PRA in elite company of 5-Star Students users and is an achievement that PRA High School Assistant Principal, Von Miller, has been striving to reach ever since introducing the system five years ago.
“The whole purpose of using 5-Star Students was to help our students get engaged on campus and to recognize them for being engaged, outside of just academics. We wanted to see them be a part of student sections at athletic events or in the crowd at band concerts and performances,” Miller said. “Getting to Diamond Level means that we’ve kind of mastered the utilization of the platform and have seen great strides in having our kids be a part of the full PRA experience.”
Currently, over 85 percent of the PRA High School student body has used the 5-Star Students application to check in for athletic events, performing arts events and/or have been recognized for positive behavior through the application. All the points students accumulate through their participation goes toward their respective “Peak” in PRA’s house system.
With the introduction of the 5-Star Students application for PRA Middle School this year, Miller said he is excited for PRA’s future on the platform.
“I am really proud of the middle school implementing 5-Star Students this year and their own house and points system. They’ve done a really great job with that transition and, as they get more comfortable using the platform, I’m happy to help them and see it grow,” Miller said. “Hopefully in the near future, we can get them to achieve Diamond Level, as well.”
