Prospect Ridge Academy Athletics is proud to announce the Athlete of the Month winners for September across the PRA Middle School and high school fall sports in action.
Our winners for this month include:
Camille White, HS Cross Country
PRA sophomore Camille White has been named the girls’ cross country program’s Athlete of the Month for September as she has continued a breakout sophomore season for the Miners. White has been PRA’s top runner this season and ran the second fastest time in PRA history at the Liberty Bell Invitational.
White finished 6th overall with a time of 19:56. She was nominated by head coach Mary Marr, who said of Camille:
“Camille has found a passion for running and has been extremely dedicated to her training. She is competitive, and is eager to perform and improve. Her future is bright, and we are excited to see her continue to grow.”
Nathan Yoho, HS Cross Country
Senior distance runner Nathan Yoho has been named the PRA High School boys’ cross country team’s Athlete of the Month for September, following a personal record time he set at the St. Vrain Invitational this past month.
A high jumper during track season, Yoho has had a breakout senior season in distance running as ran a top-10 time in school history at the St. Vrain Invitational (17:54), helping the Miners to a first place team finish. He was nominated by head coach Mary Marr, who said of Nathan:
“It has been so fun to see Nathan's confidence blossom this season. We are so proud of his hard work, growth and the way he is pushing himself out of his comfort zone.”
Addison Kozub, HS Cheer
PRA senior Addison Kozub has been named the high school cheer program’s Athlete of the Month for September, demonstrating her leadership skills by switching positions for the betterment of the team.
She was nominated by head coach Nicollette Griffith, who described Addison as “accountable” and said of her:
“Addie has been a part of our State Spirit Championships winning team. She has stepped out of flying and into a base role this year to help her team become more dynamic. She has been leading this team as a captain for three years and is wanting to leave her legacy to the younger generations.”
Jack Nelson, HS Boys Soccer
Jack Nelson has earned Athlete of the Month honors for the PRA High School boys’ soccer program after a stellar month of September, highlighted by his hat trick against Valley.
Nelson is a versatile player, lining up in many different positions across the Miners’ starting 11. He is a captain that is described by head coach Michael Ungacta as:
“Jack is a great role model for his team by showing great work ethic, fearlessness, creativity, and his desire for not just himself but the whole team to improve. His passion for the sport and his team is what makes Jack stand out both on and off the field.”
Delaney Ash, HS Volleyball
PRA junior Delaney Ash has been named the PRA High School volleyball program’s Athlete of the Month for September after the setter averaged 26 assists per match last month.
Ash leads all Miners with230 assists and 44 aces this season from the service line. She posted a double-double against Brush earlier this month, finishing with 15 digs and 31 assists to go with two aces. Ash was nominated by head coach Sarah Sparling, who said of Delaney:
“She is truly deserving of the Athlete of the Month recognition. Over the past month, she has consistently demonstrated dedication, focus, and a strong work ethic. Delaney comes to every practice prepared and ready to give her best effort. She not only pushes herself but also holds her teammates to the same high standards, helping to elevate the entire team. Her respect for coaches, referees, opponents, and teammates speaks volumes about her character. On the court, Delaney brings a steady, calming presence and is always uplifting and supportive of those around her. She leads by example in every sense and continues to be a positive force within our program.”
Hayden Foster, HS Football
PRA senior wide receiver Hayden Foster has earned Athlete of the Month honors for the high school football program, racking up 164 receiving yards and three touchdowns during the month of September.
Foster also added 19 total tackles on defense for the Miners, as well. He was nominated by head coach Michael Storer, who said of Hayden:
“Hayden was selected as a year long captain and his work ethic and dedication to the team exemplifies the PRA Way!”
Alex Beezley, HS Boys Tennis
PRA senior Alex Beezley has earned Athlete of the Month honors for the high school boys’ tennis program after the Miners’ No. 1 singles’ player earned the right to play in this week’s Class 4A regional semi-finals.
Beezley has led PRA atop the scorecard all fall and is a three-year letterwinner. He was nominated by head coach Ari Finkelstein, who said of Alex:
“Alex has been an anchor on the Varsity tennis team for the past 3 years, and his improvement from last season to this one is remarkable. He represents the team at the top singles spot, and works hard every practice and weekend to improve his game. He is also a captain who the younger players look up to and learn from. The team would not be nearly as competitive (or fun) without him.”
Logan Free, MS Boys Soccer
PRA eighth grader Logan Free has earned Athlete of the Month for the PRA Middle School boys’ soccer team after being able to successful make his return to the field this past semester. Free, who broke his hand earlier in the season, consistently showed up for practice and games to cheer on his teammates and help any way he could before returning for the final two games of the season.
He was nominated by head coach Richard Dencklau, who said of Logan:
“Logan had an unfortunate situation with his hand, but maintained a positive attitude and was a tremendous teammate through it all. I’m really proud of how he handled this year.”
Teagan Helmick, MS Cross Country
PRA seventh grader Teagan Helmick has been named the middle school girls’ cross country team’s Athlete of the Month for September.
Helmick was praised for her fast starts and ability to save enough energy for the final kick of the distance races she competed in last month. She was nominated by head coach Amy Slocum, who said of Teagan:
“Teagan is Prepared by always communicating with the coaches on her schedule and need for office hours. She is consistent in her running. Once she sees the finish line, she takes off faster than all the other finishers. She's amazing! Nobody can pass her once she's started that last sprint.”
Davis Randall, MS Cross Country
PRA seventh grader Davis Randall has earned the middle school boys’ cross country Athlete of the Month award for September, demonstrating his determination and strength battling tough racing conditions.
Randall did not shy away from running through freezing rain and tough course conditions to do the best for his team. He was nominated by head coach Amy Slocum, who said of Davis:
“Davis shows the PRA by always being on time for practice. He has run an excellent season this year.”
