On Saturday, February 8, the Prospect Ridge Academy Model UN team spent a 7-hour day hard at work in a conference room representing different countries as part of the Cherry Creek and Cherokee Trails Model UN Conference. By the end of the day, in recognition of their hard work, the PRA team was rewarded with two Best Delegate Awards and a Best Position Paper award.
Lucas Piedra and Arnav Sudheer won "Best Delegates" together at their last Colorado Model UN Conference. Lily Hyser also won "Best Delegate," while the duo of Constantinos Josephides and Nathan Lamsal took home "Best Position Paper" honors.
PRA’s Model UN team is an shining example of PRA’s vision, creating academic, social, and ethical leaders, coming to life.
When asked what his role is in the team, Stephen Cutillo, the team’s sponsor, said, “My role is to do as little as possible.” He elaborated by explaining that the club is largely student-driven. As a sponsor, Cutillo is there to support them when necessary. But the executive council members are the true leaders of the club. Those students do everything from running meetings to planning the international trips to training new members of the team.
“These are some of the smartest and most self-motivated students in the school, and I want to give them that opportunity to do as much as they can themselves,” Cutillo said.
The PRA United Nations team is taking a trip to Japan in April, where they will be participating in an International Model UN Conference.
