The Prospect Ridge Academy High School girls’ golf team added another chapter to its sensational spring, bookending a historic 2024 season with three student-athletes and head coach Anna Stavola all earning recognition on the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Class 3A All-State teams.
PRA junior Hope Torres earned Class 3A Girls Golf Player of the Year honors following her dramatic comeback to win the individual title at the Class 3A CHSAA State Championships, played back on May 20-21 at The Olde Course in Loveland.
Torres is joined on the All-State teams by senior Kate Dinges and sophomore Ye Yoon Choi, each of whom claimed top-20 finishes at the state tournament, while coach Stavola was named Class 3A Coach of the Year.
The accolades come after all four helped guide the Miners to the program’s first state championship, adding to the state titles earned by cheer in 2019 and 2021.
Torres took home the individual state championship crown after erasing a four-hole deficit with just five holes remaining, jumpstarted by an eagle on hole fourteen, before knocking off two-time champion Maddy Bante from St. Mary’s Academy in a playoff hole. Torres finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 150 after carding rounds of 74 and 76, respectively.
Dinges earned her spot on Second Team All-State with a 12th place finish at the Class 3A State Championships, just one stroke back of the top-10, while Choi finished in a tie for 19th overall with a tournament score of 179 in her state tournament debut.
