Miner Families,

I recently communicated with you about two Principal transitions at the end of this school year. We have been so fortunate to have benefited from their wisdom and leadership for the past eight years, and we thank both Kera and Steve for their incredible work in growing and shaping PRA.

This unexpected change has allowed us a unique opportunity to revisit our leadership structure. I have recommended to our board of directors, who unanimously support the decision, that we streamline our top-level elementary and middle school administrators and create the position of K8 Principal. We have discussed this option in the past, and with this opportunity, the timing is right. This change will create continuity, shift resources closer to students, and align with our overall mission and vision for PRA.

The K8 Principal will be responsible for executing the K8 strategic vision, aligning curriculum and standards, strengthening social-emotional and behavioral support, building culture and climate, and ensuring our K8 students have the solid foundation needed to transition to high school within our K12 environment. Our Assistant Principals will continue to do the great work they’ve been doing, focused on supporting students and teachers day-to-day. Our new structure will also incorporate additional staffing at the point of greatest impact.

PRA student, staff, family survey data, local Adams 12 data, and national education trends all point to this structure's benefit. This reorganization will create continuity across the school but maintain the unique identities and development needs of the elementary and middle school students.

Understandably, you may have questions about this new structure. I want to hear from you and provide clarity and confidence in our school's direction. I will be available in person and virtually from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on Monday, April 29, in the K8 Commons to answer any questions. Thank you for the ongoing trust and confidence you place in our team to support your child every day. Working alongside you and supporting your child on their K12 educational journey at PRA is an honor!

Go, Miners!
