Dear Parents and Students,

It is almost time to start preparing for the next school year by talking to teachers about core classes and choosing electives. Students not returning next year will not submit course selections.

On Thursday, Feb. 1, current 8th - 11th grade students  will rotate through class description stations during Peaks and Access in the HS to prepare for Course Registration, which begins on Feb. 28.  Additionally during MS Access  on Feb. 29 there will be a presentation on electives and a refresher on entering courses in IC.

Throughout the month of February, secondary students will have conversations with current teachers about their core class recommendations for next school year. Parents, we recommend having conversations with teachers during parent teacher conferences on Feb. 15 to discuss the needs of your student.

MS and HS students will select their elective choices between Feb. 28 and March 4 in Infinite Campus. Instructions will be sent directly to students the week of Feb. 26. IC is only set up to accept student course requests during the specified window (from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, through 4 p.m. on Monday, March 4). Course requests must be entered through the student portal. The parent portal is not set up to accept course requests for students. Students will bring home Course Request Verification Forms on Friday, March 8, so they can review all recommendations and elective choices with their parents. These forms should be signed and returned by Monday, March 11.

All rising 9th grade students will meet with their HS counselor during their study hall on Monday, March 11, to review their signed Course Request Verification Form and begin creating their four-year HS plan.

Course Registration allows students to select which elective courses they would like to take during the next school year. This course request process does not guarantee placement into a particular course. The information obtained is used to determine the number of sections to offer for each course.

Remember, Course Registration is not a first-come, first-served basis. Selections must be made in IC by March 4 at 4pm.

Thanks,
PRA Counseling Team

P.S. Students who do not plan to return to Prospect Ridge Academy will need to complete the course registration at the new school. If you haven’t already, please alert your counselor at PRA that you will not be returning next year.
