Is your middle school child interested in joining the PRA Middle School First Lego League Robotics Team? If so, please sign up on the interest form.
We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, August 30th after school from 3:15-4:15 in the MS Tech Lab. On this day we will be doing some get to know you and team building activities where we will be looking for effective/positive communication, collaboration, task commitment, ingenuity as well as building and programming skills (not required).
The Middle School LEGO Robotics Team meets on Mondays and Wednesdays after school in the Middle School Tech Lab from 3:20-4:30 p.m. every week (except days off-like Labor day) through mid-November. The First LEGO League Competition is held on Saturday, Nov. 18, (all day event) here at Prospect Ridge Academy. For more information on MS LEGO Robotics, please view this information video.
Note: There are limited spots on the MS First LEGO League Practice Team. We will be determining who will be on the Practice Team based on the amount of interest and students' performance on this first meeting. Please note that not all that are on the Practice Team will get to go to the competition on November 18th. The competitive team members will be determined 1 month before the competition so that we can work on the final robot and research project that we will be showcasing at the competition. Those students that have attended practice consistently, have been positive, helpful and productive during practice for the robot game, as well as the research project, will get to be part of the competition team on November 18th. If you’d rather not participate in the fall team, we do offer an informal Practice Team in the spring that focuses on programming the robots exclusively.
Parents, if you are interested in helping with the MS LEGO Robotics team this fall, please email Mrs. Huey. Engineers and/or programmers preferred, but not required. I’m hoping to have enough help this year to take 2 teams to competition vs just one. As they say, many hands make light work : )
