When we get back from Thanksgiving break we will be starting long division! Yay Math!

alright right now we're going to look through the steps of long division. I promise. purchased a lot of steps so how we remember our steps we have very specific order things we do  Dubai multiply subtract bring down we say dead monkeys smell bad whatever  Sears a practice problem 46 / 2 they could be written like this or play I usually say and we're doing one division is how many times does 2 go into 46 they mean the same thing  so couple important parts about this number is the dividend the number that we are going to be dividing and this number is the divisor that's how many groups were dividing something into appear we're going to have the quotient that's going to be the answer to the division problem  alright let's get started  we start by DMS B's down the side because this helps us keep track of what step we are at in the process cuz that's the most confusing part is knowing okay what do I do now we need to dry some arrows so to help us cuz when you do that answer goes on top of the Little House on the bottom  up and down lines keep everything straight and nice and it gets messy gets really difficult to tell what you're doing stop number 1 divided we are looking at 4/2 and the way say it is how many times does 2 go into 4  2 goes into 4 - x and that was our divide step so I crossed out my in my DMs bees  Step 2 is Multiplied so we're going to do the two that we just wrote down X the to the divisor is 4 and when you multiply your answer goes down so I write it down there and I cross out my and in my DMs bees  set is subtract or going to do 4-4 which is zero an answer goes down there and I cross out my ass in my DMs  my next step is bring down so I take the next number in the dividend and bring it down can cross that maybe we've gotten through one round dmsb but we need to start over cuz we're not done yet this number down here can never be bigger and this number up here cuz it wouldn't make any sense to have a remainder of 6  so I am out of room on my so you are going to continue working down your page but I'm going to start a new one so I'm quickly going through everything before he done so now we're all caught up all right step 5 again  now we're looking at how many times does to the divisor go into 6 the number we just wrote this is the stat can always get messed up on I say what am I deciding you're dividing that sticks we just wrote down three times and we divide our answer goes up in my DMs tease next time at step 6 x 3 I just wrote down in the by the to the divisor 3 x 2 is 6 and when you multiply your answer goes down number 7 is the tract so 6-6 is zero and I cross that myself and my DMs fees  instead bring down so we look is there anything left to bring down it would be right here in this box and there's not so I just cross out that b and we are done T3 is my quotient my answer so 46 divided by 2 is equal to 23
