High School Device Policy

Laptops, netbooks (Windows, Mac), thin client, Chromebooks and tablets (iPad, Windows, and Android) will be compatible devices provided they meet the established hardware, operating system, and networking specifications—and are able to address the security requirements described in the Security Considerations section of the guidelines. Student device backgrounds, screensavers, cases, and covers must be appropriate for the learning environment: images of violence, death, drugs, or suggestive behavior are not acceptable.

PRA recommends you consider purchasing warranty/service plans available upon purchase directly from the vendor/manufacturer. Our experience also suggests you invest in a case for your students’ device to minimize damage that may be caused by an accident.

PRA’s media center has Chromebooks available for students to check out for a day if they are having an issue with their device.

  • Availability is limited, and library devices are not intended for regular daily use. It is the student’s responsibility to bring their device with them to school each day.
  • Library policies and student responsibility requirements for equipment are available at the circulation desk.

Email [email protected] if you have questions regarding device requirements that have not been addressed.

Laptop, Netbook, and Thin Client1/VDI Computers are highly recommended by our own PRA HS educators for students intending to pursue AP level classes in Science, Language, and Social Studies to run specific software not available for Chromebooks and Tablets.

Security Considerations

Please be aware that students with these devices are capable of bypassing our protected wifi network and can, if they choose to, access inappropriate web content while onsite.
