My name is Courtney Carteret. I am a North Carolina native and Colorado transplant. I graduated with my Bachelors in Social Work from East Carolina University, Go Pirates! From there I went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I graduated with my Masters in Social Work. I am also a certified yoga instructor, having graduated from Kindness Yoga's 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program in May of 2017. I simply refuse to live without Yoga in my life.
I started my career in the Individual and Family Counseling Field but was quickly drawn to the schools, and have spent the last five years working as a School Social Worker in the public school setting from grades PreK-12. My heart, however, lies with Middle School. This is my first year working as School Counselor rather than a School Social Worker, and I am super stoked about the transition and challenge.
Outside of work, you can typically find me soaking up the outdoors or on my yoga mat moving to anything from Chris Stapleton to Christina Aguilera. I consider myself a reptile, loving sun and heat- hence my frequent escapes to Florida, Utah, and anywhere that likes to reach 90+ degrees. Cody, my Rocky Mountain native man and I have two rescue dogs- a Bull Terrier named Ludacris (but we call him Ludy, Loofy, Luferrigno, and basically anything other than Ludacris) and a Min Pin/Italian Greyhound/Rat Terrier mix named Pearl. I am a traveling feign and dancing queen, and ashamed of neither. I fell in love with Colorado when I lived out of my 1974 VW Westfalia for three months while traveling the West. I believe in working hard while living fully. Wherever there is Guacamole, I will go. Same applies for Cacti.
Working with kids is my jam, especially middle schoolers. They speak my language and I theirs. I'm super stoked to be joining the Prospect Ridge Team!
