Mr. Thygesen's Weekly Message 4/4/22

Video Transcription:

Happy Thursday friends and family. It's been a long time, but I'm back on video tonight. And I notice with bad lighting, so I apologize. It's now today, Thursday, I understand. But I wanted to make a special announcement about Screenagers and a community event that I'm hosting next Thursday, April 14th at 6:30 PM. More on that in just a minute.

Starting today, you will have access to both Screenagers and Screenagers' next chapter, that I hope you'll watch with your kids in the coming days. These are both important and groundbreaking documentaries that explore the impact of screen time and social media on our kids' lives. In our middle school Minor Mail today is a link to a special Screenagers event page, where you can register to watch both movies for free. We did purchase the licensing for this event because we felt it's really important that we all watch this together as a community. This access is good for the remainder of the month. So you can watch with your kids at your convenience, but I do encourage you to watch them in the coming days because I'm hosting an event on Screenagers, the impact of screen time and social media, how it is changing our kids' brains and strategies we can employ to help our kids find a healthy balance with technology in their lives.

So today, please register to watch these movies and then plan to join me and your community peers next Thursday, April 14th, at 6:30 PM in the K8 Commons. We'll also have a Zoom link, so you can join us online if you prefer. We'll discuss together our own experiences and challenges and the latest data around the neurological impact of digital consumption. And also the strategies that we've used that have worked in our household and school. So I'm very excited to have the chance for all of us to get together about this topic, which is so very important to our kids' future. I guarantee you are going to enjoy these movies. So thanks for your time. I hope to see you next week.
